Dear Church Family and Community,
Since its beginning, First Christian Church has existed to glorify God by helping people follow Jesus. One of the ways we’ve sought to live out that mission is by serving and investing in our local community. For more than 20 years, it has been a privilege to share our indoor playground as a place for families to gather, play, and connect in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Unfortunately, in recent months, we have experienced a growing number of incidents - ranging from blatant disrespect to staff, inappropriate substances, adult material, property damage, etc. - that have raised concerns regarding the care, safety, and stewardship of our space. These situations have made it increasingly difficult, under our current systems, to maintain the type of environment we desire for the families and guests who utilize our playground.
After much prayer, conversation, and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our indoor playground to the public for the foreseeable future.
This decision was not made lightly. Our heart remains the same: to be a church that serves and blesses our community within the bandwidth of our own resources. As we move forward, we are taking time to evaluate how we can better steward this resource and implement systems that will help ensure our playground continues to be a safe, respectful, and enjoyable space for everyone in the future.
We are committed to communicating clearly throughout this process and will provide updates regarding any future plans as they become available.
