2019 Christmas offering

Family Resources

  1.  Love Move Us

As more and more churches encourage families to step into orphan care, foster care, and adoption; many of them are not prepared or equipped to support these families after the fact. Love Moves Us serves the church with a desire to meet the churches' needs in foster and adoption care. After Jason & Cheryl Bentsen adopted their son, it sparked a desire to help other families and churches in supporting families that answer the call to adopt or foster.

    Love Moves us to:

    • Move families to flourish

    • Move children to connect

    • Move people to love

Beginning in 2020, FIRST will be hosting foster and adoptive families in our community—providing meals and children’s programming, allowing connection and support to be created.

  2. Empowered to Connect

The Empowered to Connect Conference features practical teaching in a safe and supportive community as we work to equip families, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care. It features Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) methods developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, to help bring attachment and connection in families. The content is ideal for any parent, but geared toward adoptive and foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care, and those who are serving and supporting other. This includes social workers, agency professionals, church staff, ministry leaders, counselors, and therapists.

Empowered to Connect 2020 will take place at First Christian Church -Champaign on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18 from 9-5P.

  3. Student Ministry Summer 2020

The Student Ministry of FIRST has always prioritized reaching and mobilizing students for kingdom impact. This summer we are anticipating a great response from our students to attend camps, conferences and mission trips.
