About FCCFirst Christian Church in Champaign, IL is a dynamic, growing body of believers. Together, we're striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible—a praying church with relevant, Biblical teaching and heartfelt worship, where our lives are continually becoming more Christ-like as we live out our faith by serving others. We take seriously the charge that Jesus laid out for the Church in Matthew 28:19-20, and have summarized it into the following statement: Mission"Glorify God by helping people surrender to Jesus and become more like Him."While we work to accomplish this mission, we also recognize that God placed us at this specific location in the Champaign-Urbana area for a specific purpose. Our vision describes what our church will look like as a body when we are accomplishing the mission God has given to us. topVision"A Christ-centered people, transforming lives, and impacting our community."As the FCC body endeavors to complete FCC's mission and vision, we as individuals are challenged to discover and grow in three areas of relationship. Our relationship with Jesus, our relationship with a community of believers, and our relationship with the world. topValuesWe believe in the value of God's Word being taught and learned.Because of this belief we strive to continually proclaim the truth of God's word with relevant, creative, and life-convicting methods and messages. (Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:15-17)
We believe in the value of changing lives.As a result of this value we believe that every person on the face of the earth needs the grace of God through Jesus Christ and when it is received it will continually change each of us more and more into the image of Jesus. No one should ever be the same. (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 3:3; 2 Timothy 4:2)
We believe in the value of community.As a result we strive to connect people to others in order to promote unity, fellowship, and belonging all across the life and ministries of FCC. (John 17; Ephesians 4:1-16; Acts 2:42-46)
We believe in the value of personal and corporate integrity.Because of this we fully expect people to strive to live lives of purity, honesty, and respect as the norm. This extends beyond just when we are together corporately but into every facet (family, friends, and business) of our personal lives. (1 Corinthians 16:13; Philippians 1:27; Colossians 3:13; Galatians 5:22; Ephesians 6:13-18)
We believe in the value of praying.Because of this we strive to be in constant communication to God and from God on behalf of others and ourselves. (Matthew 6:5-13; 21:13; Romans 12:12; James 5:16)
We believe in the value of stewardship.As a result of this value we encourage each person individually and the body corporately to live this out in the areas of their time, their resources, their talents, and their gifts. (Romans 13:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31)
